Trip to the Amazon River, Blog updates
Trip to the Amazon River region
I'll be going away for a week, from Monday to Friday (26). Got a work trip up in the Amazon River region, and even though I've been in northern Brazil before, it wasn't close to Thee river. I'm very excited to see it for myself and get to know the area! It's also an interesting job, about new education methods being applied in a few riverside schools, brought directly from India.
But being away from home and having to go around different places also means that'll probably not check or update internet stuff. I don't know about the quality of mobile internet there and I'll definitely be too tired in the evenings. So if you contact me via my guestbooks or email during this week, please be patient, I'll write back as soon as possible. :)
Also it's been exactly one month since I got back home from my 3-month sabatical in Southern Brazil... Not complaining too much, but I really miss being a full-time homebody work-from-home gal. :')
Blog updates
I've done some tinkering recently. I've updated the colophon, my bibliography page and changed the posts footer a bit. I've also included Subscribe Openly to my RSS feed link to make matters more understandable for folks just coming in.
Let me know if you find any broken links around here btw.
Life updates
Other than work, nothing much. I've started exercising much more frequently which--I've been told--is good for me, though as a broken-brained ADHD I only feel like I do stuff that makes me tired and sore and it sucks. I'm going down 12 flights of stairs instead of using the elevator, jogging in the park and on the river walkway. I sweat. So. Much.
Cats are doing ok, though I've noticed Carina's ashtma attacks are back... Guess we gotta deal with that again. Partner is doing good in his masters program, and my flatmate is dealing with a bunch of family drama that is only drama because men are emotionally broken and incapable of accepting help, I guess.
I've switched to writing blog posts on WriteMonkey rather than on Dillinger or Stackedit or even Bear Blog. I'd had purchased a license many years ago but stopped using at some point, now I'm back at it. It autosaves and has a bunch of pretty colors, other than many nifty tools. It's been a good space to open it up and having only writing to do, no other "tabs" visible to distract me.
And not a real "life" update BUT... I've gotten myself the beautiful, smooth, creamy-sounding Aula F75 keyboard. It's pretty expensive when you convert its price to Brazilian Reais plus taxes (usually 50 to 70% on the original price tag) but I regret nothing. It's what I've been wanting since it was released and the sound is everything I hoped for. Even my matter-of-fact, been-using-the-same-standard-Microsoft-keyboard-for-15-years partner noticed on how nice the sound is. Sure, I had to use AutoHotkey to fix my ? and / on my ABNT2 layout that I use, but all was worth it. ALL.
That's it for today. Toodles, everyone!
