Workspace, mindspace & internet stuff

It is I, the workspace. Featured my mini pc and portable monitor, Switch playing some bkg music, Boox Palma as my clock and paper planner on the side.

Got to my auntie's on Monday, and finally finished setting up my workspace here. I'll be staying with her until late March. I got a big translation project to tackle due April and I'm hoping this stay will help me focus. Here I don't have cats to take care of, and neither do I have to worry about food and provisions or housework. I consider these visits my "semi-vacation from adulthood" tbh, a time where I can truly just focus on whatever it is that I need. Of course I still got bills to bill and appointments to make, and I'm still teaching, but when the house is taken care of... Gosh, that frees up so much mental space.

For real, husbands in the 1950s had it good. No wonder so many of them wanna go back to that.

I'm hoping this means getting ahead in this translation + getting back to studying seriously. I plan to read as much as possible too, but that is not a priority right now, so we shall see.

As for internet stuff, I've been using this plugin on Bear Blog and it's truly a game changer for drafting/editing posts! I've gotten into the habit of drafting it on Notesnook's desktop app bc I couldn't trust myself (or Bear) to keep saving my draft, and Notesnook has autosave (and word count), which is always preferred. But I do some editing on Bear before posting, and let me tell you, it helps a lot! I just wish we could swap character count to word count.

In other news, I need to seriously get back to updating/fixing up my website! The font links are broken and I got so many websites to add to the cool websites page... I'm just procrastinating at this point. I still haven't published the cat page! Shame!

I'm reading a lot more blog posts recently, thanks to having an RSS feed reader on my Palma. I'm using Feeder there bc Inoreader doesn't work without an account on Google Play (boo!). I've decided to use Aurora Store instead of Google Play this time around, it's my first Google-free(-ish) device1. I tried other RSS readers before this one, but they all had the same issue as Inoreader. But Feeder's been great, you don't even need to create an account, I just imported my feeds in an OPML file and it sorted everything out as it should, separated by folders and everything. Very simple, direct and fast. It was pretty good!

Haven't consumed much of any media lately, though I did "finish" Cat Café Manager. It's pretty short and easy, the kind of game I like. Buuut I didn't like it as much as I thought I would... The interactions with the characters were very surface level, and even though there's a bunch of furniture to unlock different types of conversation, none of them really tied up in a cohesive storytelling/character arc. I think that was the most disappointing part tbh. That and the lack of true interactions with the cats, it's much more focused on the customers that come to café... Who cares abt ppl when there's tons of cats around anyway.

I guess that's it from me for the time being. I think I'll post a sort of informal review about the Boox Palma, I have a lot to say about it. That and another listlog with a bunch of stuff I've learned recently (did you know possums are not only the cutest but also the cleanest of the semi-urban wilderness?).2
